about
We were Double Handsome Dragons. We’re still 2 x handsome. We’re still dragons. But we’re no longer a band. Many years ago, we created at night in a decaying unit of breeze blocks. We drank tea from dirty mugs and wished our hands were warmer. We fought with potted plants and lawnmowers to get to our instruments —sometimes they attacked us — we have scars. We had a sledgehammer and smashed up old washing machines – we liked the noise. The skip was not our friend. We played four different kinds of music at the same time, using instruments we did not care for. We built a Studio and named it Studio Terror. It had yellow walls. In there we recorded songs for films that were never filmed. We travelled to faraway lands to play shows for decent, handsome people. We danced. We shouted in people’s faces. We were, and always will be, Double Handsome Dragons.
My Favourite Animal is the White Werewolf is taken from the mini-album Lions & Tigers and HOLY SHIT WHAT WAS THAT?!! (in retrospect a terrible name for our favourite collection of songs). We recorded everything ourselves (as may be apparent in the production quality) in 2009. My Favourite Animal is the White Werewolf was inspired by 1) the band Twinkie whose favourite animal was the white tiger, and 2) the fact that werewolves are fucking cool — especially the ones in Dog Soldiers.
Airships on the Water return with another LP of phenomenally textured post-rock, moving from tender passages to well-earned crescendos. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 13, 2022
